AAIA 2022 Contemporary Creative Resident in Athens Announced

Melbourne-based artist, Anna Fairbank will be the AAIA 2022 Contemporary Creative Resident in Athens

The AAIA is very pleased to announce that its 2022 Athens Contemporary Creative Residency has been awarded to Anna Fairbank. Anna is a Melbourne-based artist whose practice focuses on the intersection of art, architecture and the environment. Anna creates interdisciplinary works which examine change and discontinuities in our urban environments. Her work captures city-dwellers’ reactions to their mutable surroundings, and the ever-continuing process of artefactual production.

Anna’s residence in Athens, a city where many different time periods and cultural streams coalesce, will foster innovative insights and productively contribute to her creative output.

Anna Fairbank is an architect and fine artist, interested in multidisciplinary, cross-media practice transferring between the built environment and fine arts. She has over 30 years’ experience collaborating with local and overseas clients, designers, and artists, creating exciting and sustainable projects. Current research centres on the future of practice and works on disruption and displacement in the realms of land sea, air and space. As a fine artist, experience with design process and various media forms an expressive foundation for new works, including interpretative studies in sculpture, photography and urban works, often using subversive humour.
